Destinations

The best part of the wedding, far more important than the wedding venue, guest list and the food. Read more below to find out.

5. Maldives

Why it’s great: This had to be on the list. Made famous by celebrities, the rich and influencers a like. A honeymoon in the Maldives offers serenity like no other.

Maldives offers the perfect romantic getaway with pristine beaches and some of the best coral reefs in the world. Undeniably romantic, and a world apart from anything else. This is a perfect destination all year round and if you can stretch to it, the overwater villas are a must. Complete bliss!

4. Bali, Indonesia

Why it’s great: Love the sound of Maldives but want some more space to explore then Bali is the place for you. The history of Bali stretches as far back as the Paleolithic period (10,000 B.C), so you will not be short of culture and food on this amazing island.

Ubud is the cultural heart Bali. Famed for its rice terraces, monkey forests and traditional marker. There is something for everyone in Bali. You can check out the best things to do in our ultimate Bali guide, which is coming soon! In the meantime if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.

3. New Zealand

New Zealand

Why it’s great: This was Elly’s choice. Not a conventional honeymoon, especially for brown couples, but it is known as Aotearoa (the land of the long white cloud) for a reason. New Zealand is fantasy on earth.

A honeymoon in New Zealand has something for everyone. Adventure, culture and romance all rolled into one. Now we understand a country like New Zealand can be daunting to plan for especially on a honeymoon but there are numerous resources online to help you plan. We will be doing our own guide on this as well in the near future, so you can have the brown travels experience.

2. Morocco

Top 5 honeymoon destinations

Why it’s great: For me, this is the perfect honeymoon destination for the adventurous couple who somewhere inside them have a deep rooted hate of lounging on beaches for hours, and yes that is a picture of Yunkai city (One of the slaver bay cities for the game of throne fans out there).

Morocco has so much more to offer than Marrakech. Marrakech is an attack from all angles on your senses, an experience more than a holiday. As you venture out into the depths of Morocco you are faced with the second to none hospitality and friendliness of the Moroccan people. Elly and I recommend hiring out on a car and setting off on your own adventure to the Merzouga Desert. Whilst I type this, I’ve got Elly in my ear shouting “tell them not to pick up any hitchhikers!” Read more about what happened when we did just that in our post about Morocco, which is COMING SOON!.

1. Sri Lanka

Top 5 honeymoon destinations

Why it’s great: WOW! Words cannot do justice to this beautiful country and its people. Sri Lanka exceeded all our expectations, as the diversity of the country blew us away on each turn.

The hustle and bustle of Colombo, the nature at Sigiriya, the culture in Kandy, the oh so Essex feeling in Nuwara Eliya and the tranquillity in Tangalle. Sri Lanka has so much to offer. Our friends thought we were mad for picking Sri Lanka as our honeymoon destination but if there ever was groundhog day, I just wish we are in Sri Lanka. Tips & Tricks

Make it clear it is your honeymoon to hotels and in some cases even travel agents, you will get free perks. People are afraid they will get charged more, but with travel agencies fighting for your business rates are more competitive than ever. We emailed all the hotels we had booked to inform that it was our honeymoon and how much we were looking forward to our stay. and managed to bag free room upgrades amongst many other things.

We also find Hotels.com to offer the most competitive rates, including taxes and very often also sea plane transfers (for Maldives), where as other agents don’t
